I’m honored to have won two awards at The Domain Conference, which took place the past two days in Ft Lauderdale, Florida.
Blogger of the Year: Michael Cyger
Domain Ambassador of the Year: Michael Cyger
Thank you to everyone who voted for me and DomainSherpa. Both categories had fantastic nominees, all of whom I read on a regular basis and have high admiration for. It was a real honor to be nominated alongside them.
Interestingly, as Domain Shane pointed out — the Sherpas took home all of the individual awards:
- Domain Name Hall of Fame: Andrew Rosener (Sherpa) and Richard Lau (Sherpa)
- Blogger of the Year: Michael Cyger (DomainSherpa host)
- Domain Industry Goodwill Ambassador: Michael Cyger (DomainSherpa host)
- Best Company of the Domain Industry: Dot Club
- Investor of the Year: Ali Zandi (Sherpa)
- Developer of the Year: Adam Dicker (Sherpa)
- Best Registry: Dot Club
- Registrar of the Year: Godaddy
- Most Fit Bloggers: Aaron and Shane Cultra (Sherpa) of DomainShane.com
Ok, maybe that last category wasn’t “official” but it is well deserved. Both guys either run marathons or ultra marathons (100 mile events). I’m in awe of their times and abilities.
As I did on stage, I want to thank all of DomainSherpa’s sponsors. Without them, what we do to educate entrepreneurs and investors around the world wouldn’t be possible: NicheWebsites.com, Estibot.com, Escrow.com, Uniregistry.com, Flippa.com, DomainIQ.com, NameJet.com and Guta.com.
If you haven’t visited those sponsors, signed up for an account, tried their services, followed them on Twitter/Facebook, or just sent them an email to say “hello” — please do.
Also, when I went up to the stage to accept the Ambassador award, I made it clear that it was a result of all the Sherpas that come on the show — and that I’m just fortunate to be the facilitator. If I’m the ambassador, then they are the true dignitaries of the industry.
And, I had the great pleasure to share the experience with my mom, Aura, via Skype. I called her via Skype (the same system I use for most of my DomainSherpa interviews) on my way up to the stage to accept the Ambassador award and she was able to experience accepting the award right along side me, from her home in Los Angeles. (Look closely at the picture and you’ll see her in the phone.)
(Big thank you to Andee Hill for documenting the entire awards ceremony on Facebook.)
Thank you to Howard, Barbara and Ray Neu for organizing, producing and hosting the event. They always make it feel like attendees are coming home to family when we attend their event.
Thanks to all the conference sponsors that made the event possible, including premier sponsor .Club. (If you haven’t heard the .Club story with Colin and Jeff, watch it here.)
It was great to see all my industry friends and catch-up on their lives in person, over meals, in sessions and throughout the event.
See you at Namescon in January,
Michael Cyger
