DomainSherpa Review – September 14: HAC.com, EYU.com, GolfSchool.com, Spoons.com…

DomainSherpa Review with Michael Cyger, Andrew Rosener, Larry Fischer and Shane CultraThis is the show where we get into the minds of successful domain name investors – people we call Sherpas – and talk about the value of specific domain names. By listening to the Sherpas, we expand our thought process so we can become more successful investors ourselves.

In this DomainSherpa Review:

  • We learn what the Sherpas bought or sold recently: HAC.com, EYU.com, Concussions.org
  • An investor’s portfolio is appraised: Bid.ca, Spoons.com, Land.cc…
  • Get your bids in soon for GolfSchool.com, SG.net, ZJE.com…
  • A surprising result when a Sherpa summits the mountain in the “Name That Price” game
  • Plus, much more!

For each domain name portfolio, the Sherpas answer:

  • Which domains are valuable, and in what way?
  • What is the market value (both wholesale and retail) of the best domain names?
  • Which domains are worthless and should be dropped?
  • Which domain names may invite legal issues, such as a UDRP case or cybersquatting lawsuit?
  • Which domains do our Sherpas want to make an offer on?

We’re joined by three Domain Sherpas: Andrew Rosener, Larry Fischer and Shane Cultra.

Awesome show! Great mix of information and hilarious entertainment =-D

I know you guys mentioned how hot the 4 letter .Coms are hot right now. Where would be the best market place to sell it at in order to maximize the price. Thanks.

    – Will

  3. Omar Negron says:

  4. Niz says:

      Larry

  5. Steve says:

Thanks Michael and thanks very much gentlemen for reviewing the names. Some great comments and advice. I thought I would mix it up a bit with some .ca’s as I am in Canada. Fun show!
    Cheers!

  6. Quack says:

Puerh.com is one of the best names on the list and all 3 guys missed it. Andrew even ridiculed it. Puerh is one of the most expensive and desired teas in Asia.

Just goes to show, it’s nice to get advice from the pros, but there are always going to be gaps in their knowledge.

    1. mrdomainer says:

I hear you it is worth $$ puerh.com Watch out he or they will probably bid on it. Gaps in their knowledge is spot on 100%.

Pureh is a variety of fine aged dark tea produced in Yunnan province or a place called China. Yes domains exist outside of the US.

      1. Steve says:

I was going to include a Chinese. Idn.com but thought I would catch too much cr@p.
Everyone had great advice. I also liked Michael’s valuation of NonDestructive.

      2. Steve says:

I used to wholesale tea. Sold green tea and white tea dot com and spoons was included to sweeten the deal. One of my favourites.

      3. As Andrew mentioned, we respond based on current knowledge without research. Its quite possible if someone was selling a domain, and you knew the meaning and they did not, It is possible to benefit from a lack of sellers knowledge . thanks for sharing.

        1. Quack says:

That’s one of the things that makes domaining fun. They don’t come by every day, but there are still great names that all the big players either completely miss or grossly undervalue.

That’s what gives me the motivation needed to crawl through the bottom end (few tlds taken, not outstanding great search, age or history) of the expiring domain lists.

        2. Steve says:

Thanks for the great ideas and advice regarding the names. Another great show with lots of solid advice/critiques.
          Cheers!!

    2. Great observation. Remember, we are doing these on the fly and there is no way to know everything about everything. It appears that it is a good domain afterall and I hope owner sells it for tens of thousands.

      1. Steve says:

Andrew, thanks very much for taking the time to review my names. It was great having everyone review and critique them. I had to throw in a few “brandables” to mix it up a bit. I am glad most of the names passed the “test”.
        Fun show!!

  7. Great show as always!
    thanks for sharing

  9. John Harrison says:

    Great show Sherpas

    I have a question:

Drew mentioned that llll.com names that did not include vowels or a V, and therefore attractive to the Chinese market, were a great bet right now and would show the greatest return multiple.

What does Drew and the other Sherpas think about llll.coms that do not conform to this, perhaps, names with V? Are they even more undervalued and therefore just as good an investment for another market, say the Indian market which (as Ron Jackson’s DN Journal recently reported) is set for huge expansion?

    Thanks again!

    1. Shane Cultra says:

      John,

The LLLL.coms could very well be undervalued. The non vowel domains with a Q, Z, and X were the garbage of the LLLL.com world a few years ago. You could pick them up on ebay for $25 all day. Now look at them. So yes, there is a chance they offer value. But I’m with Drew, I think the names that make good acronym, vowel or not, are undervalued

      1. john Harrison says:

        Hi Shane

Thanks for your advice and knowledge. I think there are probably just so many people in the world who are not yet online to keep pushing the value of llll.coms up.

        Time to purchase some more!

  10. TJ says:

very informative show. i should be coming here alot. I got an offer for my domain name ebim.com from a chinese buyer on sedo. initially i put it up for 3500$..ended up 2750$ and now i realise that i would have been able to get more since apparently this was an end user from a chinese university and this was a pronounceable and VCVC.com

now i know better. thanks Sherpas!

    1. Shane Cultra says:

      TJ,

Never worry about what you could have gotten. As long as you made a good profit and were happy with the sale then smile and keep moving forward. Congrats and hope your next purchase gives you a good return as well

      1. TJ says:

thanks Shane. I guess you are right. onwards and upwards!

      2. Steve says:

Shane, thanks for the review. I had to throw in a few .cc’s as it is my “drug” of choice for longshots as well. I remember you mentioned you liked them and yes the holding costs are very low for the World’s easiest and fastest extension. Go .cc!!
        Thanks.

  11. Richard says:

Great show, Larry makes a great addition. Thanks to Mr. Cyger for bringing the best of the best.

    Thanks, Michael.

  14. Richard says:

Great show, Larry makes a nice addition to the reviewers, having a sense of humor and lots of experience. But so does Frank, Mike, Adam, etc. I want to thank Mr. Cyger for finding the best of the best to come on the show and share. I’ve learned a lot through watching these shows, and it’s nice to put a name with the faces. All stand up guys.

  15. Trev Anil says:

      larry

  16. Noor Manji says:

Great show, I personally think that Drew is the most informed person in the industry.
More action in the show than any episode of Breaking Bad.
Thanks Mike, Drew, Shane and Larry for another terrific show.

    Noor

    1. TJ says:

      haha, i think so too.

    2. Thanks Noor. Very kind of you to say.
