This is the show where we get into the minds of successful domain name investors – people we call Sherpas – and talk about the value of specific domain names. By listening to the Sherpas, we expand our thought process so we can become more successful investors ourselves.
In this DomainSherpa Review:
- An investor’s portfolio is appraised: Sex.guide, Higher.education, Design.center…
- Get your bids in soon for Genetics.com, Night.club and GGG.xyz…
- A surprising result when a Sherpa summits the mountain in the “Name That Price” game
- Plus, much more!
For each domain name portfolio, the Sherpas answer:
- Which domains are valuable, and in what way?
- What is the market value (both wholesale and retail) of the best domain names?
- Which domains are worthless and should be dropped?
- Which domain names may invite legal issues, such as a UDRP case or cybersquatting lawsuit?
- Which domains do our Sherpas want to make an offer on?
We’re joined by three Domain Sherpas: Andrew Rosener, Frank Schilling and Shane Cultra.

An eye-opener of a show for me. God damn Frank and his infectious nature ;)
I love the wine analogy.
Well done Mark for your portfolio- you definitely inspired me a little today.
I agree with Drew in that if your going with the new gtld’s, this is definitely the way to go.
But you do you not recommend he build any one of them out?
Thanks for the discussion on new TLDs. I agree with Frank, the new tlds look better. If we were to start the DNS system today – I don’t think .com, .net etc. would be offered as an option. Ask yourself why. Maybe you’re banking on the idea that people will always type .com after a name (like muscle memory) and that these new tld ‘things’ are too confusing and won’t catch on. I’m really interested to see what end users start doing with new tlds. I have many .coms but I would really like to see new tlds get in to circulation.
I am surprised some of the .city domains in the investor submitted list are non-premium (ie. Melbourne.city). I am not even sure how it was not picked up before general availability. I checked the day it was released. I think the registries slipped on some of these if they’re not premium.
I do wonder about new geo tlds – if cities end up releasing their own tld (ie. .lasvegas) – apartments.lasvegas might be a better option than lasvegas.apartments – this is the main reason I am unsettled on new geo tlds. Too many variations available in most cases (not to mention lasvegasApartments.com).
I recently noticed a large trucking company with a large sign on the back of their fleet which listed new jobs at: http://www.<>.jobs – although mostly redundant (for .coms), I think adding the www helps the new tld make more sense for people not familiar with new tlds. Over time the www can probably be dropped (just like most .coms). I think most people would still be confused by <>.jobs (without the www).
I’ve hardly seen any new tlds in circulation so it was good to see this one.
Thanks for the show.
Dunstan.
hi Mike I own a 4 letter domain and received an offer , can you give me some tips on negotiating? they offered $1500 but i want way more ok thanks
Great show, don’t see it getting anywhere close to that 5-year valuation, but nice portfolio

Really enjoyable show and great to hear the sherpas thoughts on the new gltds.
Great show as always, nice gTLD names Mark. Enjoyed hearing some positive feedback from the Sherpa’s.
Good Show Mike / Sherpas
Fantastic show Michael and Sherpas!
Great to see a discussion on GTLDs again. Will be interested to follow the namejet namescon auction coming up in a couple of months which should set a benchmark for their values.
Kind Regards,
-Zac
Would it be possible to fix the MP3 download please? Clicking on the button redirects me to the homepage.
I clicked that button seven or eight times in three browsers thinking my security measures were blocking it somehow :-) I ended up “listening” to the video.
Thanks for letting us know, Mary. It’s working now.
Thank you all for reviewing my portfolio. The advice and feedback is much appreciated!
Looking forward to seeing you in Las Vegas at NamesCon.
Likewise, Mark! See you in Vegas. :)
